Wow, a “Game of The Year” that finally lived up to its billing. ‘Grats to the Gators for beating us straight up, fair and square.
We’re still a year or two away from having the full compliment of personnel to be able to beat a team that deep and talented, not to mention a once-in-a-generation player like Tebow.
Disappointing, yes, but the Crimson Nation is very proud of this team and what they’ve accomplished this year and the way they played today. Still, two Bama mistakes led to two Gator scores–remember what I said about having to play a perfect game?
But did anybody in their right mind expect the Tide to be 12-1 in 2008? I don’t think so.
Texas or Oklahoma, it doesn’t matter–Tebow and his Doo-Wop boys will beat them. Has anyone ever seen a player like him? I haven’t. Maybe we really should have tried to slip some Kryptonite into the Gatorade cooler on the Florida sideline.
As for the Sugar Bowl, that’s still pretty darn sweet (thanks for all those sugar packets, Gator fans!). Believe it or not, I’ve already heard one commentator say how great a team Utah is and how Bama “shouldn’t want any part of them.” Go ahead, make my day by making us the underdog in that one.
I say, woe be unto the Utes or whatever team we play.
My sentiments exactly. This long, undefeated run had got our hopes up for a NC a little earlier than the “Process” called for. And it was nice to be able to think of Bama in those terms again. But for perspective, I have to remind myself that back in August I had penciled in 10-2, with losses to Georgia and LSU, as a great season.
Army may have come up on the short end (again), but those camo uniforms and helmets absolutely rocked the house. Hooah!
Bryan–
I was even a little more conservative than that and had them at 8-4. Obviously, Saban has “The Process” running a little ahead of schedule. The future looks very, very bright. And I can’t wait for January 2nd.
I hated to lose, but I can’t think of a QB I would rather lose to than Tebow. What a great player, and even a better person!
I hope they kick booty in the BCS Championship game. I am SO proud of The TIDE and how they played this year. One day we will look back at this season as the foundation for the many National Championships that are on their way! ROLL TIDE ROLL
Tebow looked unbeatable – but he’s not. It was a great game though, and I was pulling for ‘Bama. I really wanted a Big 12 team to hand Satan, er, Saban his first loss and do it in the title game.
Oh well, I guess we’ll settle for giving Tebow his second loss of the season instead, and we don’t care whether it’s Oklahoma or Texas.
And you ‘Bama fans can take that as a compliment. Us Big 12 fans really wanted you in the championship game.
We’ve endured some long, dry years waiting for a season such as this year. Tebow has class … far more than the guy who kicked the Bama player while he was on the ground as time ran out. That’s classless.
I’m not sure what happened there…it may been a little too much rush and a little frustration from a couple of Bama players and then perhaps some retaliation from the Florida player. There’s so much that goes on in those scrums. I’m glad that it wasn’t worse and that it didn’t mar an otherwise great game.
I’m sure Utah is tough, but they sound a little like some kind of Florida, Jr. Same spread offense, only no Tebow. They’ve spent the year whupping up on Weber State, New Mexico, Air Force, Wyoming, TCU, etc.
We, on the other hand, ran the SEC regular season gauntlet undefeated and then lost a tight one to a team who I believe will win the NC.
I think we can handle them. I know Saban will have the boys ready. Roll Tide.
Well the dreaded game is over and the not very conflicted UF fan/UA student and I texted several times during the game and enjoyed the aftermath. He kept it low key and didn’t gloat. Bama played great. They scared the Gators and had a chance to win if a play or two went the other way. The SEC’s best decided the championship on the field and I can’t help thinking that the BCS title game will be a blowout. But maybe OK’s defense is better than advertised and the game will be close. Kudos to Bama for a great year and hopefully a 13th win in the Sugar Bowl.
I wondered if you guys were in trouble once Corso picked Alabama on GameDay. He’s like the angel of death with his picks, this guy.
Great game, which is what I was most hoping for, and I agree with Charlie that it seemed like there were a few plays that could have turned the momentum one direction or the other, and they ended up in Fla’s favor.
I don’t really like Stoops or Meyer, and hate to see either of them win it, but I dislike Stoops more, so I’m hoping for a Florida win.
Oh, and I think that is a good general rule with Corso. Although he did pick us over Georgia. But then again, even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut…
