So pervasive, in fact, that it can thrive in the most unlikely places&#8211;such as the notorious<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robben_Island\"> Robben Island Prison<\/a> off the coast of South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>World Cup 2010 will be held in South Africa, and in advance of that, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/sports\/soccer\/worldcup\/2006-07-06-robben-island-soccer-cover_x.htm\"><em>USA Today<\/em> has a stunning article <\/a>on how a soccer league gave hope to the victims of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Apartheid\">apartheid<\/a> who were imprisoned at Robben Island.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been trying to make the case that soccer is more than a game to some of you skeptics out there.
