{"id":889,"date":"2008-02-02T06:43:20","date_gmt":"2008-02-02T12:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ocularfusion.net\/?p=889"},"modified":"2022-01-02T07:37:57","modified_gmt":"2022-01-02T12:37:57","slug":"roll-on-sweet-meg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ocularfusion.net\/?p=889","title":{"rendered":"Roll On, Sweet Meg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" alt=\"meg_ingram.jpg\" id=\"image890\" title=\"meg_ingram.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ocularfusion.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/meg_ingram.jpg\" \/>The Huntsville and University of Alabama communities <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/huntsvilletimes\/index.ssf?\/base\/news\/1201947362288280.xml&#038;coll=1\">are saddened this morning at the passing of Meg Ingram.<\/a> Meg was a nursing major and former Bama cheerleader <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.al.com\/enjoy\/2007\/08\/fighting_cancer_meg_ingram_cho.html\">who fought valiantly and mirthfully against a rare form of brain-stem cancer over the last 2 years.<\/a> She was an inspiration to her family and legion of friends, among them Number One Son who knew her and her sister Madalyn well.<\/p>\n<p>Before she died she asked two things. First, that everyone ditch the traditional black at her funeral and instead wear her favorite color&#8211;pink&#8211;or, of course, crimson. I know that that her many friends, even those from Auburn, will gladly oblige.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, she asked that the University of Alabama recognize in an official way that she had been a part of that community. President Robert Witt did just that, and this past week a member of the Board of Trustees presented an honorary degree to her at Huntsville Hospital. By that time, Meg had slipped into a coma, but her parents, Lance and Hannajon (&#8220;H.J.&#8221;) felt that she knew it was there.<\/p>\n<p>Meg, thank you for teaching us to &#8220;number our days aright.&#8221; And I&#8217;ll say this, because I know you would want it to be <strike>said<\/strike> shouted, loudly and clearly for all the world to hear:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Roll Tide, Roll!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>And Roll On, Sweet Meg. It seems like you were always leading.
