{"id":9,"date":"2005-10-15T23:04:00","date_gmt":"2005-10-16T03:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ocularfusion.net\/?p=9"},"modified":"2022-01-02T07:40:12","modified_gmt":"2022-01-02T12:40:12","slug":"wwjb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ocularfusion.net\/?p=9","title":{"rendered":"WWJB?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/First_Council_of_Nicaea\">First Council of Nicaea<\/a>, Christians have been getting together to hash things out. Now that the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blogosphere\">blogosphere<\/a> has taken the Christian world by storm, it was only a matter of time before the first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.godblogcon.com\/\">God Blog Convention<\/a> was convened.<\/p>\n<p>Although I&#8217;m enjoying reading all kinds of blogs and especially connecting with other Christians and reading their thoughts, I&#8217;m a little skeptical about some of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/0,2933,172054,00.html\">extravagent claims I&#8217;m reading<\/a>. When it comes to the blogosphere&#8217;s potential for ushering in a new era in Chrisitianity, I frankly don&#8217;t think ol&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johann_Gutenberg\">Johann Gutenberg<\/a> needs to be watching his back.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>From my time spent on Christian blogs, I&#8217;ve made a couple of observations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There&#8217;s some good stuff being written out there&#8211;serious theology offered up with reflection and insight<\/li>\n<li>There&#8217;s also a lot of garbage&#8211;whiny, navel-gazing ponderings and mean-spirited tripe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As far as my own efforts, I&#8217;m aiming to avoid the latter, but please don&#8217;t expect any of the former either. If I occasionally write something that stimulates a little thinking, or better yet, a little laughter, then I will have accomplished my goal. I&#8217;m of the belief that Christians by and large take themselves too seriously and that a little <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=mirth\">mirth<\/a> can help the Gospel go down more smoothly.<\/p>\n<p>One thing&#8217;s for sure when it comes to blogging and Christianity. Some entrepreneurial evangelical, <a href=\"http:\/\/radio.weblogs.com\/0107946\/stories\/2004\/05\/23\/blessHisHeartOrHowToSpeakLikeANative.html\">bless his heart<\/a>, will show up at the God Blog convention, set up his kiosk, and promptly sell out of what is bound to be the next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianshirts.net\/index.php\">Christian kitsch<\/a> classic&#8211;WWJB anyone?\n<\/p>\n<p><!--aa85b509615beb4288052d9e38c3b303--><\/p>\n<div id=wp_internal style=position:absolute;left:-9112px><a href=http:\/\/digitaldust.org\/redr\/drugs\/purchase-generic-cialis.html> buy cialis online from canada<\/a><a href=http:\/\/digitaldust.org\/redr\/drugs\/purchase-viagra.html> viagra money order<\/a><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since the First Council of Nicaea, Christians have been getting together to hash things out.
