Evidence of Humanity on Planet Earth

It’s been quite a week. If you’re like me, you might be feeling a little world-weary.

We’ve had increased violence and more death in Iraq, more nuke aspirations in the Middle East, a ratcheting up of pre-election rhetoric and shenanigans, a “botched joke,” and now a nationally renown evangelical leader who admits that he bought meth but “never used it” and called a gay “escort” for a “massage” but “no sex.” And if all that weren’t enough, we only had 10 trick-or-treaters stop by our house.

Enough quotation marks already! All in all, it’s enough to make you want to crawl back under the covers. Wake me up at the eschaton, please.

But wait, there’s hope. And in of all places, a TV commercial.

I’d like to hug the person who came up with this one.

There is evidence of humanity on planet earth.

A Pay It Forward idea. I like it.

I hope they make some more like that one. And I’ve got to find out who that is singing. Very soothing.

    Hey, thanks for research!

Maybe I’m just lucky to be surrounded by good people in a good area, but this commercial sums up life for me far better than all the other stuff you mention.

(We did have more than ten trick-or-treaters. Maybe even close to thirty, especially when you count our daughter and all her college friends who stopped by between choir practice and the dorms. But still nothing like I remember when I was young.)

I’m glad, you’re very blessed. We like having our sons and their friends “invade” the house too. It’s fun and we enjoy the opportunity to be generous. I guess that’s what I felt I was robbed of on Halloween night.

I think I just need to stop watching and reading the news. Perhaps ignorance truly is bliss.

That is a great commercial…unfortunately its suffocated between all the political mudslinging ads that bombard us around elections. I look forward to Wednesday if for no other reason than that. VOTE TUESDAY

    Keith–

I’ve seen more mudslinging ads over the past week on TV than I normally see in the month leading up to an election. I don’t recall the rancor ever being this bad. If that weren’t enough, my phone is ringing off the hook with even more.

I’m very weary of politics as they are presently practiced in this country.

Your posts have been a bit dark lately, so here are a couple of soccer-related clips to brighten your day. The first one is a sweet and touching ad clip from Algeria, the second is just funny.

(Because I don’t think anyone ever went to his or her death thinking, “I should have watched fewer Zidane videos.”)

Thanks Laurie, those are great and just what I needed!
