R, Rol, Roll, T, Ti,Tii…Oh, Never Mind!

You know me, I always come back from T-town with a story or two.

There were so many Auburn fans in Tuscaloosa last Saturday you’d have thought it was Iron Bowl weekend. They were driving around with their orange and blue flags, holding up their very premature 7-finger salute, and generally hootin’ and hollerin’ like it was feeding time down at the ol’ trough. Since they were playing the Bulldogs in Starkville and had a 6:00 pm start time as well, they were passing through around lunchtime on their way to their game. And what a game that turned out to be!

Numbers One and Three and I ate our traditional pregame meal at the quintessential Tuscaloosa eatery, Dreamland Bar-B-Que. We’d just finished polishing off a couple slabs of ribs and were heading out the screen door when a carload of lily-white Barners pulled up, yelling “War Eagle!” acting cocky and looking pretty dang smug, just like Head Farmer Tommy.

“Do you think they’ll serve them?” asked Number Three.

“Good question,” I replied. “Let’s see what happens.”

Number One had been searching for a lid to his sweet tea and was a little behind us. As he was coming out the door, the interlopers had just gotten into line and were being greeted, so to speak, by the Crimson-clad partisans who were ahead of them. About that time, the African American security guard, the one with the shiny Glock on his belt, walked up.

He grinned at Tommy’s farmhands and said, “We’ll let you in and even sell you some food…as long as you say the password…”

Honestly, I’m not sure if that bunch of Barners got anything to eat that day or not.

    That’s just funny!

Just as the Bama fans would respect the traditions of Auburn, I’m sure most Auburn fans would respect the traditions of Bama. It would be difficult to pass up a rack of Dreamland ribs – I don’t know that I could say the password so I might wait until another time to visit.

That game with the baseball score wasn’t pretty but it shows up in the W column so I’ll take it. I’ll be in Fayetteville on Saturday and I hope that the Bama fans will show their polite side to the Hog Nation.

So, you’re going to be in Fayetteville on Saturday, hmmm? I knew they were going to make a convert out of you! 😉

I’m sure the Bama fans will be polite to a fault like they always are. Whenever it comes time to serenade the Hawgs with the “Rammer Jammer,” I’m sure they’ll say “heck” instead of, you know, that other word.

    There’s nothin’ wrong w/Terri’s conversion!

In fact, I was lookin back through your arcihves this morning, Dr. Eyeguy, and saw where you even admitted that there was probably a little bit of “Woo Pig Sooey” in you, after spending what I’m sure were some outstanding years of your life here!

    Go Hogs!!!

Dang those blasted archives! I knew I should have deleted them…

I have been immersed in The Crimson Flood. All my Hawg smell has been washed away…

I have not been converted. My blood is still orange and blue but Whoopigsooie has graciously invited me to hit the road around 6:00 a.m. and as the starry eyed newlywed, I accepted the invitation.

Still I say – “WAR EAGLE”

It really frustrates me when the Auburn fans show their face in Tuscaloosa, especially on game day.

TG–Okay, I’m a little slow on the uptake, but you’re telling me that you just married Whoopigsooie? Well, I guess that would explain the move to Scarcely…

Then belated congrats are in order! What do you get when you cross a War Eagle with a Razorback? Martial bliss…

bpb–We thought it was funny. Let ’em whoop it up while they can. The Day of Reckoning is coming…

    Hilarious. Good on him.

On my way to campus every morning, I drive first past Dreamland, then, .2 of a mile later, Krispy Kreme.

And yet, you still maintain your svelte physique! A herculean feat of self discipline.
