Faithfully and Flawlessy Executed

The road to hell is paved with adverbs.

–Stephen King

Stephen King intensely hates them. Chief Justice Roberts carelessly flings them about. President Obama ruefully considers their slippery nature.

Not to needlessly worry. The stray adverb has found its proper home, and President Obama has faithfully and flawlessly executed the oath of office.

Word nerds: lustfully gaze upon the breakdown here.

To all of you who were unnecessarily baptized twice: Let it quietly go.

    Seriously.

I am so absolutely going to hell up here.

I think this was a good call. You know there’s some crackpot out there (like the guy in Bible class last night who said that Michelle Obama was holding a Koran along with the Bible at the inauguration) who would tie up the courts with a case saying that Obama is an illegitimate President because he made a goof on the oath.

    I firmly agree.

Whew, it’s getting awfully hot now. Somebody check the thermostat–quickly!

You put the LanguageLog link (oh! glorious alliteration!) in for my benefit, didn’t you?

    Excuse me. I’m hyperventilating.

Oh, I almost forgot. Another one for you and all my other fellow word nerds. This one does a poetic analysis of Obama’s speech patterns.

LanguageLog link, shirtless Beckham–either one works.
