To RR’s agent: Represent me.

And let the bidding war begin!

I read a rumor that Coach Stallings offered to come back to help turn the program around. Just a rumor? I was hoping you’d comment on this . . . .

Hey Stoogelover, greetings. Friend of Brady, correct?

Yeah, another example of the Bama Nation’s fixation with the past and messiah figures. For many, Stallings was the closest thing to The Bear, and after all, he did deliver up NC #12. Paul Finebaum is a Birmingham-based sports radio host who each week calls up both Pat Dye and Gene Stallings to get their take on things. So the fact that Stallings is heard regularly by his loyal fans only adds fuel to the fire. Although I didn’t hear the show yesterday, it’s my understanding that many were pleading with Stallings on air to reassume the reigns including taking over as AD as well!

It’s all pretty pathetic really. I’m a relatively new convert to the Bama way, and it would appear to me that many Bama fans spend way too much time living in the past. There’s a good coach out there somewhere who is capable of taking the talent in T-town and molding them into championship form. Chances are, he’s someone who isn’t necessarily a “big name” and doesn’t have any ties to The Bear. The question will always be: will he be accepted?

Like I’ve suggested to others, your best man is already on staff and has the “old school” swagger that most resembles the reveered “Bear.” Joe Kines. He’s one of the top 5 assistant coaches in the nation, a motivator, well connected, can recruit, and demands the respect of the athletes. MM won’t have the guts to do it since money is no object, he’s spend every dime possible to find a household, money name. Oh well, it will be fun winning back to back SEC West titles! Go Hogs

Also…don’t be suprised if he lands that plane in Fayetteville, AR to court one HDN.

Keeping Kines and hiring a first rate OC might be the exact correct move (and a lower cost one too), but MM may be starting to fear a little for his own job soon and will feel the heat to hire a big name. I had heard that Nutt’s agent has contacted Bama, but who knows what to believe these days?

D Mac and Jones are playmakers who make Nutt look pretty good. My gut feeling is that if Prothro had not broken his leg, that Shula would still have a job.
