Carpe Diem!

Like me, Alberto Salazar has been running most of his life (albeit considerably faster). But that blasted Reaper is still nipping at his heels.

I’ve told Eyegal that if I go out running, to please tell everyone I went out the way I wanted to. Not exactly a chariot of fire, but a fine ride nonetheless.

These days, I wear a RoadID during my workouts. Following all the identifying information is the following short, but important, message:

Carpe Diem!

Great idea! I just ordered my own ankle ID.

A few years ago I had an accident on my mountain bike deep in the woods. I had the wind knocked out of me for awhile, and I laid there wondering how long my body would rot there until someone found me. At least now someone will be able to identify my remains more quickly.

I thought about getting the ankle one, but I finally decided that it creeped me out a bit–too much like a toe tag.

Got mine several weeks ago. My tag line is “Roamin’ With Purpose”, which I noticed is applicable to my bike riding too. Thought about putting something there about my low blood pressure, but decided if somebody is reading it, then I’ve probably had a heart attack or been hit by a car. Regardless, it provides some measure of reassurance for significant others. Had not heard about Salazar.

How ’bout “Roamin’ For A Reason?” Better alliteration that way. Next time call me first. 🙂

Are you doing the metric century ride tomorrow?

No ride today due to rain. I was going for 85 today, but that will have to wait until next weekend. The WC Handy century ride is Jul 28 in Florence. After observing the profile map of the Handy ride, looks like I need to work on some bigger hills :0
